Three Major Fashion Trends in 2023
Before we dive into the world of fashion and what is trending this season, let me give you a quick disclosure. My research showed me that there are around 20 (if not more) different trends this year. Some of them include the blazer, the dropped waste look, the ‘quiet luxury’ look, asymmetrical clothing, and many more.
Just because they are not included here, does not mean i’ve neglected them, or decided (regardless of what the whole Vogue team thinks) that they are not trends at all. But this post can be only so long, and my goal is to digest 50 pages of fashion articles into a single blog post of 700 words. So here we go…
As seen on Vogue (UK & US), Glamour, InStyle Magazine, The Every Girl, ELLE, Bustle, and probably every other fashion and style magazine, here are the top three trends, which will be dominating the fashion world in the next couple of months.
#1: Denim all the way
Do you remember that period (I wanna say 2015?) when denim shirts were a thing and almost every person you know would own at least one. Or was that only in my circle of friends?
Anyways, it’s no time like the present to bring back those babies into your everyday life, as denim is having a major comeback this year. And I am talking about denim everything… from dresses, to bustiers, and head to toe denim wear. We’ve seen the huge spike in denim trend on the runway as well as in street wear, during Paris fashion week.
I am still not sure how I feel about wearing a denim jacket, with denim jeans, and a denim hat, but I am excited about this trend and I definitely want to see how it develops into the autumn/winter months.
And honestly, at this point would it really be a trend if we don’t see one of the Hadid sisters wearing it?
#2: Silver / Metallics
This year silver is dominating in every aspect of fashion. While in the past, we have mostly seen silver in the role of the ‘party dress’ or ‘party bag’, this year the metallic motives are taking a whole new meaning.
From jackets to metallic colour pants, and every day bags and shoes. Silver was a theme that dominated many spring collections, including the likes of Gucci, Versace and Chanel.
As we know fast fashion producers like Inditex (think Zara here) know how to scale its production and bring us the most trending peaces, at fraction of the cost, so I have the feeling we will soon be seeing metallics everywhere.
#3: Pastel Colours
I think this is the trend I am most excited about! On top of everything, it seems that various shades of purple, blue and green pastels are one dominating and I am must admit, I love me some gorgeous purple thingies.
But don’t take my word for it, maybe seeing A-list celebrities like Margot Robbie, Anya Taylor-Joy and Seth Rogen would change your mind.
Also, in case you missed it, here’s the Pantone Colour of the Year 2023 - Viva Magenta.
